Product Description
This is another edition of the world-famous popular word game for two to four players. The object of the game is to compete for the highest score by forming interlocking words in cross-word fashion on the Scrabble board using tiles displaying letters with various score values. Higher scores can be obtained by using the tiles in locations and combinations that make most use of the letter values and premium squares (eg: triple letter score, double word score, etc.) on the board. The manufacturers recommend that the game is suitable for people age 10 years upwards, which is more or less accurate though slightly younger children could play, especially if there is some measure of supervision. Contents: there is a moulded plastic travel case, 23x12x5 cm, which features a built-in playing board with a non-slip surface uniquely designed to hold the special tiles which fit securely on the board. There is no need for paper and pencil to score as there is an integral scoring device on the edge of the board for each player. All the contents can be safely and tidily stored away inside the moulded case. There are four storage racks which are specially designed to hold tiles in place during the playing of the game and which keep them hidden when they are packed away if play has to be interrupted. There are 100 tiles of various values, a cloth bag to hold the tiles and a rules leaflet which is explicit and easy to follow. This is an excellent, compact version of Scrabble which should give hours of pleasure when on the move. --Susan Naylor

Almost perfect - but not quite!, 08 Dec 2007
I was looking for a replacement for my travel magnetic scrabble as the letters on that tend to fall off as the glue holding the letter to the magnet melts in the heat. Apart from that, it was a well designed set which was compact and everything fitted into the board when not being used.
This version is much bigger. The board opens on one side (not on both as per other reviewers - maybe they have changed the design) to hold the racks and any unplayed tiles while played tiles can simply remain on the board.
My main gripe is that shuffling the tiles on the rack is not easy as they are quite a tight fit. I m anticipating losing a few tiles before long.
Great fun!, 04 Sep 2007
Travel scrabble is ideal for those long haul flights where you just wish you had a game. The all-time classic now comes in a version you can use in the air or on the ground, and the tyles will never fall off! The handy pop-in mechanism really works and it won`t wet you down in any sort of turbulance. I all ways found it annoying that when you are short of time and in the middle of a game of scrabble you have to just abandon it and throw the bits back in the box - but not any more! With these pop-in bits you can literally preserve a game you would have otherwise have had to cut short. Supprisingly, this version is more durable than the orrigonal and is deffinitley a great buy!
Not very well made...., 12 Feb 2007
For anyone who enjoys playing Scrabble, and like us, only gets the chance when on holiday then the travel edition is perfect for you. However, I agree with an earlier reviewer regarding the quality of the actual board itself. It is not as good as the original which had the holes for putting the letters in. This version is quite bulky, the hinges break easily and we have found we've had to buy a new one every couple of years.... maybe it's a good marketing ploy!
Also on the last one we bought the ink ran on the tiles, not only did it rub off when you handled them, but when the board is closed and they touch the tiles on the opposite side they can transfer the ink on each other.... hence we played one game wondering who had the blank only to find it had been played as a 'U'!!
I do think Mattel need to improve the travel version, but for now as we are addicted to the game itself we will have to keep hoping.
Scrabble, 10 Feb 2007
This is a classic game and with good reason and this is perfect to take when on the move. It's simple to play, but with infinite levels of game play for all ages and ability. Not only is it fun, but it stretches your vocabulary and mind as well. You'll have many a happy hour if you buy this. Highly recommended.
Nearly perfect essential for the Scrabble fanatic, 14 Nov 2006
You can play up to 3 other people on the official Scrabble board, with all the tiles, word score boxes and more, but this is ideal for use in a car (maybe not while you're driving!), bus, train, plane, etc.
The letter tiles clip securely onto the board, scores are kept on the side using smart number sliders, and even the player's tile racks fold over to hold each person's tiles in place between turns. If the game has to be interrupted, the racks fit under the board and the board folds over on itself to store the game in progress until everyone is ready to go again. I say 'nearly' in the title only because there doesn't seem to be enough room to store all the tiles, bag and rules in the folding box that makes up the board. Other than that, this is a great way to get your Scrabble fix, and for the price it can't be beat. Get this for travel and the deluxe wooden set for home play.

Cant put it to Bed, 29 Jan 2008
Its now almost a month since i started playing with this puzzle and as yet have not completed it. After seeing it on Dragons Den i was completely intrigued and being a fan of the old rubiks cube i thought this would be something I could master pretty quickly. How wrong could i be!
My first plan of attack was to carefully lift the puzzle out of the box and study it to see if i could memorise where some of the blocks had to go. This was fine until my 4 year old decided to 'help'. Since then i have tried all different ways but I always seem to be just one piece away from succes.
I would reccommend this puzzle to anyone who has a little patience .
Kept my girlfriend quiet for hours, 04 Aug 2007
I bought this for my dad. I got a call from my Brother (who's a clever chap) and they were trying to complete it. They said they had done it after 30 mins but I have a feeling it was a lie. Anyway, when visiting them I found the cube all complete and in its box but with stickers on all the pieces!!!, my girlfriend wanted a go so off she goes, sits on the floor and empties it out. 3 hours later she is still at it, cries of frustration and "I almost did it" etc...I have NEVER seen her put so much effort into something and she's addicted. Hence the reason I'm here...to buy another one. So, for me I give it 5 stars, as I have never seen her get so hooked on something.
This was a present for my son, 03 Jun 2007
And, I just had to play with it. I am not sure I believe there are 19,000 solutions, I haven't found any of them but this toy is so addictive! I can do the Rubic cube, Frantic is easy and I can fix most things but this toy is driving me mad - I love it! I'm just off to YouTube to see if there is a video of someone completing this... not that I'm really a cheat!
Nowhere near as good as the Rubik's cube, 26 May 2007
When I first saw the Bedlam cube, I wondered why it was being marketed as something new - this type of toy (a set of pieces that form a cube) has existed for decades in the U.K. Unlike the Rubik's cube, which you can learn how to do, and can improve your time, the Bedlam cube doesn't involved the same intellectual principles to solve the puzzle, and is more of an exercise in frustration than anything. Also, you can't put the pieces back into the box unless you have solved the puzzle. I can picture 99% of these being left to gather dust after a few minutes' use by easily bored children - it's simply not a good idea for a toy, and no amount of hype will make it so. You can't carry it around in your pocket, so you can't show your friends how quickly you can do it (and who could put it back together quickly anyway?).
But I suppose it's better suited to today's 'youth', most of whom would be simply incapable of memorising the moves required to solve a Rubik's cube... This they can show to their friends, and as it's incredibly difficult to solve, can justify their inability to complete it.
A terrible example of the triumph of marketing over good toy design. I wonder about the intellectual ability of anybody who would look at this in a shop and then actually want to buy it!

Product Description
Here at Gadgetshop HQ, we don't intentionally set out to cause you mental fatigue, emotional distress and marital breakdown. It's just that some of our fiendish contraptions are so dashed compulsively addictive that you just can't put them down for fear of getting one step closer to a solution. So it is with the Sudoku 3D Puzzle Cube, a whole world of wonder in a colourful box. Combining all the infuriation of Mr Rubik's famous innovation with the latest global craze Sudoku, it goes several steps further than both ever could on their own. And it will take you into the depths of fascination, and yes, despair. Now it really is quite simple. Just align the six identical sides with the numbers 1 to 9. Each side rotates as the original cube did, interlocking cubelets enabling the user to manipulate the device in the vertical and horizontal axes. Yet, with a crushing inevitability, solving one side will only complicate the solution to the remaining incomplete sides. Does it feel like you've been here before? Yes. Perhaps 25 years ago. Except you had more patience then. And you were probably faster at arithmetic, too. Never has the phrase 'one step forward, two steps back' been more apt. Remember. All you need to do is align the six identical sides with the numbers 1 to 9. Now, that can't possibly be too much to ask... can it?

More interesting and less irritating than your average virtual pet!, 13 Apr 2008
I guess this is a little early on to be leaving a review for this Item as I've only just got it, and so I may be back to update this review in time, but as I was so pleasantly surprised an impressed upon immediate operation, I thought I'd leave one anyway!
This is made of a much higher quality than most other small virtual pets I have seen. It has a touch sensitive area on the front below the screen, and looks and appears very durable. It's more 'substantial' and is much bigger, and even the graphics are clearer to look at. The Instruction Booklet is in perfect English (which makes a change with these things) and very comprehensive and done in much and easy to understand detail. The pet is much more animated than your average pet, and therefore far more convincing. It takes two 'proper' batteries, rather than the irritatingly small button cells that are always so hard to fit and obtain. It's also a clock and calendar and so is also useful. I'm sure that this is going to be much fun, and I am looking forward to becoming attached to my new little friend! (Ahhh...)
Note To Parents: This may be more suitable for most children, since from what I have gathered thus far, this pet does not 'die' of neglect, but after approximately three minutes or so, will go into 'sleep' mode instead, and so there will not be the same tears and heartbreak I suspect have been encountered with other virtual pets.
Well worth the money!
Great toy!, 10 Apr 2007
This is a brillant toy, you grow quite attached to your furry friend. I have the dog one, his name is Toby. In fact, he is right beside me on the desk, barking and looking for attention.
The screen is not touch sensitive, there is a lil touch sentitive pad under the screen which you use to communicate with your lil pup.
It comes with a lanyard so that you can take him everywhere and not worry about him falling out of pockets, because he's safe and sound around your neck!
he is not as annoying as a tamogotchi, which half the time you just want to throw out the window after one day.
Your anipalz will go to sleep after about 3 minutes inactivity, and you must press a button on the back (one that says 'wake up') and your lil dog will be back in action.
I recommend this toy to anyone, adult, child, even older people, it could be a very good companion toward older people that are unable to care for a real dog or cat.
I mean it when I say this toy is very fulfilling and fun, buy it for yourself or for someone you think needs a friend to talk to!
