The most over-marketed product around at the moment. This stuff is being heavily pushed on children's TV, and sadly my six-year-old persuaded his grandmother to buy this set for his birthday.

But
(i) the sand comes in little polythene bags - no other way of storing it, so when you've played with it once, good luck to you.
(ii) the sand (of course) just mixes together and looks pretty ugly once it has. This is bound to happen after the first time you've played with it.
(iii) you have to use considerable force to push the sand into the molds before trying to get the shape out. 80% of the time the shapes will collapse when you try to get them out - even more often if you're under 10. Disappointing. This doesn't happen with other modelling toys.
(iv) the picture is _so_ misleading. Frankly, unless they just happen to be artistic prodigies, there is no way that the kids in the advert made those shapes.
(v) this stuff is _so_ expensive! Please please buy lego - paints - playdough - books - ANYTHING else. It will be better value for money.

I'm not too surprised that a tub of Floam landed on my desk to test. I must admit that I didn't really read the instructions I got it straight out and started to squidge and pull the floam around - hours of fun! It's all gooey and stretchy and even bounces - reminded me of silly putty. It didn't take long for word to get around the office that I had "purple poo" and every soon had a bit, it's quite addictive.

Wasn't till later that I read the instructions. NOW I'm really sold on it - it's like modeling clay without the mess - official description is that it's modeling-clay-meets-porridge, with hundreds of tiny foam balls that give it stretchy quality.

So not only is it like putty bit you can also make stuff from it and decorate almost anything as it goes hard after a while once you take it out of the container.

Some great ideas they give you are: sticking it to flower pots, cut into shapes with pastry cutters, decorate school (or office) folders, it'll stick to almost anything so let your imagination run away. (Note to parents: don't panic it's safe and fun to use, and due to the balls that Floam uses they stick to each other but it can easily be removed from other surfaces).

Plus why not mix the colours to make new hues to have more fun with. I must admit I played it safe with my first creation and made a coaster.
