Doodle Daisy is the scribbly scrawly creepy crawly! "Hi, I'm Doodle Daisy! I'm a fun creepy crawly that loves to draw! Watch me spin and spiral as I create amazing doodles. You can decorate the patterns with my stencil hat and stamping boots and colour them in using the pens included. Dont bother...., 07 Apr 2008
I bought this item as my 3 and a half year old daughter saw the advert on TV and asked if she could have one. I thought I would buy it for Easter instead of Easter eggs as she would get eggs from her grandparents and she would enjoy doodle daisy more. The parcel arrived and with much excitement we set it up. There are holes for 5 pens on the front arms, there are shape stamps on each of the 6 feet and the hat has 8 stencil shapes. The stamps and shapes are functional just as any other stamps and stencils are (they do what they're supposed to do). The main feature of doodle daisy is the spirograph function. We chose a setting on the dial underneath doodle daisy and set it going. My daughter watched in amazement as doodle daisy span round and round drawing lovely patterns on the paper. After playing with it for 10 mins one of the pen nibs broke (not good). After playing with it for less than 30 mins, the remaining pens began to run out of ink (not good at all). At this point my daughter lost complete interest in it and it now sits on her shelf gathering dust. She now creates her own spirographs using good old elbow grease, a pen and paper). I now wish I had bought her the Easter eggs, at least we could have had more fun burning off all those calories. My advice would be to try other spirograph products out there. I hope this helps you decide.
brilliant!, 28 Mar 2008
Bought this for my girls even though they are 7 and 9, they absolutely love it! Its easy to set up, uses 2 AAA batteries, turn the dial underneath for the design, slot the pen in one of the holders, press her back and off she spins! if your child is a fan of spirograph etc then thy'll like this. makes loads of different patterns.
Not impressed, 05 Jan 2008
After all the ads on the popular kids TV channels, Santa finally left my daughter "Daisy" to her delight. However this was short lived. She was fiddly too set up and work, not good for a excitable child on Christmas morning and the patterns were nothing like on the ads. The pens are rubbish and don't last long at all. It didn't live up to what she had seen and has since been left untouched - in all disapointing!

Golden Coin Maker - , 31 Oct 2008
My children had been looking forward to this for ages. They have seen it on the tv and thought they would be making lots of golden coins at christmas. I wasn't so sure but as they were so set on it I bought it them for christmas. What a waste of money my children sadly learnt that the reality of what these advertisers show on the tv is not in fact the reality of trying to make them yourself. Even as I sat with them they were bored to the fact we made two coins and it's never been touched since. It took forever to melt the chocolate then it had to go into the fridge. Children like to be able to make a product and see it in one go not over a period of days. This needs to be clear when advertising these toys as the makers might get their money but what about the dissapointed kids?
My opinion don't buy it invest in some shape cutters and melt your own chocolate on kitchen foil, wait to dry and cut them out yourself, cheaper, more fun and a lot less hassel.
oh crikey...why bother!, 26 Aug 2008
Looks like a fab idea, and my boys of 5 and 3 love it! However, unless your kids are old enough to do it all themselves, don't buy this! It takes 10 minutes of fiddling to melt the chocolate, then 40 minutes in the fridge, then lots of other fiddly jobs to produce 2 (YES 2) gold coins. I was thoughouly fed up by then, put the maker in the loft, and went out and bought the boys half a dozen packs of gold coins each!
Very Poor Entertainment Value, 10 Jun 2008
I found this toy very disappointing. Having bought two of them for my grandchildren I and they were dismayed at the time it took to produce just a few coins and the poor quality of the finished article due to the chocolate melting at not much more than room temperature, therefore making the coins impossible to handle. The grandchildren were really disappointed and have used the machines only once. Poor contents, not enough wrappers. Altogether a total waste of time. I don't think this product should be marketed as it does not do what it it meant to.
great toy, 11 Apr 2008
My kids really enjoyed this, it does take a while but its worth the wait, it keeps the kids occupied for a couple of hours. great fun for the kids.
Coinmaker TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY, 27 Dec 2007
Well, I wish I'd read the reviews here before wasting £15 on this pile of plastic rubbish. My son was desperate for this, having been taken in by the media hype. We have wasted a great deal of time trying to get things right but have had no success so far. He is very disappointed. What a waste of time, money and expectation.

Mould and paint something else..., 27 Nov 2008
...am making it my life's work to deter you from buying these products. We've had 'em all over the years and I still haven't been able to create anything that looks like a fairy for my children to paint. My most recent effort looked like a dried lumpy ball of badly mixed plaster of paris which coincidentally was exactly what it was. If they were to bring out a product called "Mould and Paint Dried Lumpy Ball of Badly Mixed Plaster of Paris", I would have to give it five stars. The paints have lasted a long time but only because we've never had occasion to use them.
At this price, some might describe the product as a "stocking filler". Well, you fill a stocking with plaster of paris and you might end up with something more closely resembling a fairy than I've ever managed to produce. In my experience, "bin filler" is more appropriate.

This is a great kit - I'm buying a couple more to have in the cupboard for party presents. A rare craft activity that's equally good for girls and boys! I'd say best suited to 4-7 yr olds, but I had fun making them too. It was such good quality and a brilliant price that I made a point of getting other Crayola kits subsequently as a result of trying this one. Big thumbs up for the funky pebble bugs!
I can't believe it!, 29 Aug 2006
I bought this for my daughter (aged 5). I was a little jubious as I thought it is 'just decorating rocks', how wrong I was!!!! This kit provided hours of fun!! Included is 5 rocks, colouring pens, card bodies for the bugs and their wobbly eyes. A really nice touch is the 'snakes and ladders' style game sheet, card counters and dice included that you can play with after the decorating has finished.
I now have 4 pet rocks on my windowsill, and very nice they are too!

Much better than expected!, 26 Dec 2007
I bought one of these for my 7 year old daughter before I saw the rather negative review here on Amazon. I was worried that I had bought a rubbish Christmas present, but was pleasantly surprised.
It took a few minutes to set up the first time but my little girl got to grips with it very quickly. The eyepiece comes with a removable cover which blacks out one eye. Out of the box, this cover is fitted and that's how we used it. If you remove it and use both eyes it seems to be much trickier to use, which sounds like the problem that the other reviewers were having.
You do need to be careful to keep still while tracing, but it is not too difficult to realign the projected image if you need to take a break.
After a little practice my daughter was turning out some really accurate drawings (even I managed to get it to work!)
Do not buy, complete waste of money, 12 Dec 2007
Please don't waste your money buying this item, it does not do what it claims to do on the adverts. I tried setting it up for my daughter and we were very dissapointed, she could darw better blindfolded. I wouldn't have given it any starts at all if that had been an option.
Just too much of a fiddle to use!, 09 Nov 2007
I bought this for my 11 year old daughter. It was tricky to set up and even more difficult to use. If your eye changes focus you change your line of drawing and the whole thing doesn't work. It is also a strain on the eyes trying to focus on two images at the same time. My daughter used it once then gave up on it. I used it once then gave up on it. My younger daughter age 8 tried to use it but could not keep her eye focused on the image. We put our Supergrafix in the bin. It certainly wasn't super and was a waste of money.

If only there was a zero or minus rating.
'stickers and stones', 24 Feb 2008
It certainly wasn't super and was a waste of money.
fantastic, 21 Sep 2008
just recieved this product and was worried with the other reviews about installation as im not good with computers. i managed to install this product first time with no problems what so ever. when installed i did not turn it off till about 2 hours and that was just me playing it, its really well done and so simple to use. this is a gift for my neiece who is 3 and a half and enjoys drawing. im 100% sure that she will be able to work the simple tools and have hours of fun. i would highly recommend this product and well worth the price. i also bought the expansion packs but may keep them for another occasion as it is already jam packed full of activites.
My Kids love it, 15 Mar 2008
I got this for my daughter for Christmas and it has been used regularly since by both her (7) and my son (4). Basically it's a small tablet device that plugs into the USB port on your PC and using the supplied software they can either free draw or do one of the in-built projects, colouring pages/paper 'planes/etc. It is very simple to use and the biggest problem is that there is only a 256 colour palate (which I suppose is to give children a limited choice rather than a technical issue).
It is very simple to use, once it is all setup and I haven't really had any major problems with it.
I have the software installed on a selection of machines, an old Dell laptop (it's over 5 years old and it works fine reguardless of what some of the previous reviews say) a Dell PC which is about 3 years old (again it works fine) and a new top end Toshiba laptop again it all works fine. The big technial bits are that you do need a minimum of 64 MB of dedicated video RAM (which my old laptop does have, but lots of new ones come with shared system RAM which may involve you changing some BIOS settings). I also had a couple of issues with the initial setup, but installing Microsoft .Net Framework 2 or above sorted this - this is an optional update from Microsoft so you may need to look for this. I work in IT so I know what I'm doing with this type of thing. There has also been an update to the supplied software which could possibly fix some of the problems faced by the other reviewers on here. The download was automatically picked up by machine from the Fisher Price web site and downloaded and installed with no problems.
My kids love it 8/10
Hours of fun for our little one, 19 Feb 2008
Brought this as a Christmas present and have not looked back. By reading other reviews there seems to be a few software conflicts with this product. Some have 'binned' this product because they have been unable to resolve the problem. This is a bit extreme to say the least as often the conflict will be with another similar programme on their PC, probably one that isn't often used. It is this programme they need to delete from their system. I have sucessfully installed this on 3 seperate computers, 2 laptops and one desktop and have had no problems whatsoever. It is great for the kids and provides absolute hours of fun (I have even enjoyed playing on it!) It is true that you will need 'Free memory' to use this product or else it will run slow or crash but to be honest the majority of laptops and PC's these days have more memory than you will ever use so it shouldn't cause a problem. If you have issues speak to a 'competent' PC technician and they will tell you a basic remedy to sort it out.
This is in my opinion well worth buying, the only issue I have is the price. It is a little steep and only probably worth paying £29.99 however it is a good investment if you want a bit of peace and quiet!
hours of fun !, 14 Feb 2008
well we all loved this arts and craft studio, bought it for my daughter for her birthday and she loved it my 2yr old and my 5yr old played on it with ease. easy to install did it in minutes. would recommend this..
Love it!, 13 Jan 2008
I bought this for my youngest sons' 4th birthday but after reading the reviews was a little worried to say the least, so the night before his birthday we set it up on the computer to check it worked, the cd rom was installed onto my computer in about 5 minutes, maybe less we didn't time it, and the product works really well.
Both he and his older brother have spent loads of time on it and are really enjoying it, my eldest one is now using it to try and help the younger one learn to write his name! The stampers are good fun too and all in all we are very pleased with it, I am even thinking of getting the Go Diego! package to go with it!

Good - needs more information, 29 Dec 2007
This is a good educational toy with easy to follow instructions for setting up circuits. The connections are robust as they are based on magnets - easy for a child to construct and pull apart. My only quibble is the scientific explanations which are too difficult for a 7-8 year old. It needs a simple description/glossary for each component with uses within a circuit followed by the more complicated description. Relies therefore on parental help - pretty non-existent in my household!
One engineer's symbol (light) is inconsistent.
Magnets not being recalled?, 26 Sep 2007
With the recall of magnets in toys for safety reasons (if swallowed, they pinch together the gut and can cause death) being headline news, it's nice to see that some companies flaunt the "nanny state" attitude and go ahead anyway.
This toy is great fun, and safe if you follow the instructions. The science principles explored are sound, even if they're not explained in depth. One drawback is that the balls and magnet pieces are easy to lose around the house.

If only there was a zero or minus rating.
'stickers and stones', 24 Feb 2008
It certainly wasn't super and was a waste of money.
fantastic, 21 Sep 2008
just recieved this product and was worried with the other reviews about installation as im not good with computers. i managed to install this product first time with no problems what so ever. when installed i did not turn it off till about 2 hours and that was just me playing it, its really well done and so simple to use. this is a gift for my neiece who is 3 and a half and enjoys drawing. im 100% sure that she will be able to work the simple tools and have hours of fun. i would highly recommend this product and well worth the price. i also bought the expansion packs but may keep them for another occasion as it is already jam packed full of activites.
It's nothing special but kids go mad for them, 01 Oct 2008
I bought this as a small 'top up' gift for my son's 6th birthday - he loves it, even though the end product is a little bit of plastic in the shape of a dinosuar that's only and inch or so long...
His two-year old sister really went wild for it too, and has kept it under her pillow all week.
So although it's nothing special as far as us adults are concerned, it has something about it that kids really go for.
It'd make a good stocking filler for Christmas.
Very fun and worth getting, 11 Jan 2008
I was very happy with this product as i didnt have a huge desire to get it in the first place, which was a very pleasant surprise when i realised how much fun they are ... The dino egg gets dropped into warm water and starts to fizz. It is quite fun and really strange the way the little plastic pieces are left in the bottom of the water container. It is good fun because you can mix and match the pieces and make a new breed. It is also good to look on the scoreboard on the back and see what type the dino is and you can get higher scores for rarer breeds. Very fun!
Great Fun, 05 Dec 2007
My two sons love these - they quickly get referred to as the smelly dinos as the pleasant soapy smell remains for months and months! Thy love swapping the heads and legs and making up their own names, although beware if you have two dino mad children if one gets one with higher points . . . . . ,
Dino fun, 08 May 2007
This is a great peice of educatonal fun. It's great watching the water fizz and the dinosaur emerge. The bits that you have to put together to make your dino are quite small, so I would recommend putting all the bits into a bowl and also giving them a rinse before building. My daughter is mad about dinosaurs and found a good dino site to find out lots of dino species and info [...]. A worthy gimmick for dino fans.
FIZZING FUN, 01 May 2007
These fizzy eggs are great fun for any child that's into Dinosaurs and are priced at a level that is affordable. We use them as rewards for our 7-year-old son. Just make sure you get all the bits together before you empty the bowl or pull the plug as the pieces are quite small and easily lost down the drain....that dinosaur ended up in the Dinosaur hospital !
