Well, I am waiting to see on this one - no doubt the replacements are good quality, but the e-tailer involved has put on a huge number of charges for shipping (£42.00 for shipping in the UK a multiple order to the same address!!! These are roter blades, very light, not bowling balls - I could get to London for less)- I do not yet know if it will be resolved, so be careful buying - if the situation is resolved to good effect, I promise to update this! If not, well - just be careful out there...
Not one, not two but THREE spare rotor blades!, 24 Jan 2008
My picoo z was still flying well with a cracked rear rotor blade but I knew one more nose-dive behind the sofa and my fun would be over. Unfortunately my
over enthusiasm after christmas day for tidying up meant the original spare went in the bin with cracker bits. Luckily these are official Silverlit rotors and a pack of three, which I was very happy about as I can play 'Apocolypse Now' to my heart's content.
How many, 26 Dec 2007
Surely it isn't £3 for one? How many rotors are there in this pack? Is it 3?

Fantastic, 30 Dec 2007
I first played Articulate at my aunt's house with my cousins, and it was so good that we had to buy one for ourselves! No family gathering is complete without a game of Ariculate! It is so much fun and always guaranteed to make you laugh! Buy it now!
Best board game ever, 13 Dec 2007
We bought this for christmas when the family come over but gave it a trial run with my cousin, aunt and mum today and there wasn't much silence in the house cause of all the laughter.
We really enjoyed it, just a great game that seems more entertaining the more people are involved.
If you could only own one board game, I'd choose this one, you shouldn't even hesitate buying it.
Brilliant fun!, 19 Jan 2007
This game is great fun. We played it on boxing day with the whole family (me 27, bouyfriend 38, his sister 40, her partner 38, her daughter 13, and my boyfriends mum and dad 57 & 60) and we had a brilliant time. The hardest thing is knowing who some of the people are but you could always pass if you didn't know but half of the fun is making up who you think it is for your team to guess! I would definitely recommend this game to anyone looking for a great way to entertain. It breaks down barriers and would be great at a party where people don't necessarily know each other well as well as great at an everyday party. Highly recommend!
Excellent Game, 25 May 2006
First played this game in 1992. I enjoyed it then and still very much enjoy it today (14 years later). It's an excellent game when you have a group of friends together. I highly recommend it. Wish they produced more Extra Packs though.
everyone will enjoy it, 28 Feb 2006
This is a really amusing game and one that never fails to get everyone in the family involved; good at bringing together even the most distant of relatives! It's also good for younger children to improve their lateral thinking, problem solving and verbal skills. The only down side being that you can only really play it with 4 or more people, otherwise it simply isn't as enjoyable. Overall though a classic!

It's also good for younger children to improve their lateral thinking, problem solving and verbal skills. The only down side being that you can only really play it with 4 or more people, otherwise it simply isn't as enjoyable. Overall though a classic! Simple, but a heck of a lot of fun!, 16 Dec 2007
In this game a pool of thirteen cards is exposed one card at a time (with each card showing a short sequence of letters), then the special die is rolled stating where in a word it can and cannot appear, then the timer on the bomb is started. You must then think of a word that (a) contains the letter sequence on the card with no interruptions by other letters (e.g. if the card had the letters 'SAC' then words like 'ransack' or 'sacking' would be acceptable, but not 'stack' because the T interrupts the 'SAC'), (b) obeys the instructions of the die as to where the letters can appear in your chosen word, and (c) doesn't duplicate any words that have already been said in that round - once you have you can then pass the bomb onto the next player. Gameplay continues like this until the bomb plays an explosion sound; the person holding the bomb when this happens takes the card and keeps it beside him/her. Once all thirteen cards have been played the person with the fewest cards is the winner.
This is one of those games that's so simple to learn and play but is a lot of fun - and you really have no idea when that bomb will explode (sometimes it does so within ten seconds of activation, sometimes it lasts much longer!). Also, because it's not based on any particular fad, it's timeless.
Definitely recommended, although the £15 asking price is a bit steep. Simple but Great, 21 Dec 2005
A family member bought this along to our Christmas celebrations last year, and it proved such a huge success that I bought my own copy this year. It's brilliance is in its simplicity. A must for all families. I would point out that it takes 2 standard "AAA" batteries.
Tension, 11 Dec 2005
I have to agree with the reviews written so far, apart from the fact that the batteries I had in the game, when it was given to me, lasted for many hours. Fun game, which is compact and easy to carry and play anywhere. Everyone I've ever introduced to it has liked it and asked to play it again.
Pass the BOMB, 11 Feb 2005
A brilliant game for all the family. Any one can win it is a game of potluck, which comes along with histerical laughter, as you make up words as you go and then try to tell people what they mean!!! In my experience and not being at my best with language, ebven the most intelligent person can lose which is alwaYS A BONUS.
Pass the bomb, 12 Jan 2004
Great game, pity that the batteries run out after only an hour or two of play. It runs on watch batteries which makes it a very expensive game as you have to replace the batteries almost every time you play it.

I would recommendd this game, we used it at a childs birthday party and they loved it!, although the questions are more suited to older children and adults. Very enjoyable, but not at all suitable for children younger than 12/13 yrs they wouldnt know some of the phrases.

cosmic rocket: warning, 26 Jul 2006
This product is really good and very simple to do, however make sure you launch, and more importantly, land onto grass. Our first attempt was off concrete and was great until it landed back onto the concrete. Although there were no obvious breaks, the landing damaged the rocket and now the mixture leaks out of the bottom and it doesn't work anymore. As with the other review, we have purchased another as it is definately worth another go!
The Lee Rocketeers, 30 Dec 2004
Our first attempts were not too successful, because we used baking powder instead of bicarbonate of soda. This achieved several launches of 30 to 40 feet. After we acquired the bicarbonate of soda, we achieved a better launch rate and finally achieved a height well in excess of 80 feet the landing however was onto tarmac which resulted in the total destruction of the rocket body. hence our search leading us to this site.

Great Game, 12 Mar 2008
This is one great game, as mentioned before not great for young kids, but none the less, a great game. Highly recommended.
Family Fun, 29 Nov 2007
We love cranium and bought the 2nd edition as we really enjoyed the first.
A fun strategy/trading game., 24 Jun 2008
The Settlers of Catan is just a fun game! The ever changing board gives a different strategy style every game. It is quite simple to pick up (although some of the photographs showing games in action can lead you believe that it's difficult). There is an aspect of planning, trading, building and a little luck (but just a little) which shows why this is a best seller. Forget Monopoly and other outdated, tedious games, this is great!
The actual game takes about an hour and a half to two hours for first time plays, but as you gain experience this is reduced. In a world that is obsessed with computer gaming, this game brings the board game back where it belongs... in the family.
Simple, smart and very entertaining, 16 Apr 2008
If you're wondering whether you'd enjoy this game: It's like a cross between Monopoly and Risk, with about the same level of complexity, and with all the benefits of both and none of the drawbacks.
It has enough random elements to make it exciting (dice, cards and board-setup), but without making it arbitrary - which seems to be a failing of Monopoly. This means you can have a good or a bad few turns, but a good strategy will make all the difference over time.
The bartering of resources with other players is a key component of the game, and again it's possible for a good mercantile thinker to turn this to their advantage. It's fascinating - and amusing - to see the market swing in two turns from "All I've got is 4 Wood" to "I'll give anyone any 3 resources for a bit of WOOD!!!"
The combination of short-term goals and long-term strategies give it that Risk-like feeling of rewarding achievements, but without the aggressive style of play. There is no attacking or defending per-se - you just have to out-grow the other settlers. You can only really win by being a more successful cooperator than the other players!
As others have said, you never feel that the game's over until the last turn. Unlike Risk, Monopoly or most of the other conquest games, everybody's in with a fighting chance until the very end...
All in all, this is a beautifully well-rounded game. It's simple enough for anyone except very young children to pick it up and have a go, but balanced and dynamic enough for the more demanding gamer to get stuck-in. I've seen game-fanatics and "toys are for little people" snobs get just as caught up in the same game, and there have been many genuinely funny moments.
It's quite simply the perfect "get a couple of friends over for a bottle of wine" game. Heartily recommended.
I'll give you a Grain and a Sheep for an Ore..., 01 Mar 2008
I felt I just had to mention the whole bartering part of the game; it's great fun.
Like the previous reviewer, I love the new board and it's a lovely, snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug fit. I've introduced the game to a few friends, some of whom are not normally into games, and they all love it. If learning the game seems a bit too much effort they have their own dedicated website to teach you how to play!
If you're not sure about whether this game is for you, check it out and you'll see what it's all about.
New set, same game, 09 Feb 2008
We were introduced to Settlers of Catan by a friend, and have played on his board on many occasions. Having bought the new edition, I can now say that the new design is very nice. It took a couple of games to get used to what was what but my wife and I now play happily.
The pieces are still good quality wooden affairs, the tiles themselves are just as wellmade as before (now backed with sea rather than plain). Regarding the frame, ours is a anug fit, but I put that down to it being new. We haven't needed to make any alterations as the above commenter has, so his may be an unfortunate batch.
The overall look is very nice, the gameplay is as before, and I thoroughly recommend it.
terrific game, best played with good friends, 08 Feb 2008
This game is awesome. You need to be strategic, think beyond your next move, be intuitive about what your opponents will do next. We love all games in our family, any will do, but this game is different to your Cranium or Balderdash-type games which have dominated the market recently. It's cleverer than the traditional games, like monopoly or even chess, as well. I would not recommend it for playing with those easily offended (putting the robber on some people's land can be risky) or those that are aggressive game-players because this is a thoughtful game, where sometimes you have to attack your opponents even if you don't really want to.
Once you get over the tedious explanation of how to play, and everyone gets started, people realise the game is actually very simple. The game never plays the same way twice; Every time you lay out the board, it is different, the odds of gaining the cards of your choice are random, and the way your opponents want to behave is equally unpredictable. You often have no idea whether you have a chance of winning for most of the game.
One of the main advantages of the game is that it can played by an odd number of people, three can play a very good game. Also, this is one of the few games that two people can play and not be tedious. When we play with two, we adapt it slightly and are a little kinder to one another to help the flow of the game. We use the robber (he can steal other people's resource cards and stop you gaining more) but we say after about three rounds he can go back to the desert until a seven is thrown again - the robber otherwise can sit preventing you from getting resource cards for far too long because the odds of throwing the seven and him being moved are reduced when only two play. We also let ourselves collect as many resource cards as we want (in the rules you put yourself in jeopardy of losing cards when you have more than seven) - we find we develop our game in a more interesting way and keep it fast this way. Also, we decide at the outset whether we play to the winning score of 10, 12 or 14 which allows the game a little more time to play out, if wanted. If the game is very even and we are both close to winning we sometimes extend the score we are working towards to play for longer.
My only criticism of this game is, in this new version, the sea section is now in adjoining pieces that do not sit properly allowing the inner pieces too much movement and a messy board is the result. In the older version the tiles for the sea were the same as the tiles of land, and it was a much nicer looking board. We were so frustrated by the hopeless new design (our roads and settlements kept falling through gaps) that we had to score each sea section with a craft knife in two places so that we could force it to sit flat. The board is now better than the original because the sea holds it all together. The maufacturers should score these sections, because already some parts that we scored are not wearing as well as I would like and will, in time, look shabbier than if it was professionally done in the factory.

Watch those shipping charges..., 29 Nov 2008

Another re-design for the world's greatest proprietary board game, 15 Nov 2008
Ever since playing this with my cousins and brother back in the 1960s, I've always thought this the greatest'Waddingtons' board game of them all. But of course it's not made by Waddingtons any more.
Over the decades the game has been updated, to persuade me to buy another copy. In the 1980s, the Parker Brothers variant introduced Objective cards whose content you only disclosed at the moment you were claiming a win. For this new version, the idea of objectives have been retained, but all players can see them, and you only receive the objective when you've actually achieved it. We need not bother with all the film tie-in versions: Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Transformers, Star Wars etc.
I like it. As other players have observed, the game is over more quickly than previous versions, although set-up can take a long time, particularly the introductory game. My biggest gripe is with the arrow pieces which are not an improvement over the plastic triangles, blocks and beads in earlier variants. I can see that the arrow metaphor works well as an idea, but in practice they're a bit of a bugger to pick up.
The game retains the world map of the original, along with the same continental values -- which means that North America still has an unnatural advantage, and Asia is rarely captured until close to the end of the game. However the game does travel in different directions compared to the original version where world conquest was the only objective. In particular, you need to protect your capital. Hanging on to this is even more important than blockading all the entry points to your continent.

Great game, pity that the batteries run out after only an hour or two of play. It runs on watch batteries which makes it a very expensive game as you have to replace the batteries almost every time you play it.
Great Game, 12 Mar 2008
This is one great game, as mentioned before not great for young kids, but none the less, a great game. Highly recommended.

We love cranium and bought the 2nd edition as we really enjoyed the first.

Death By Chocolate, 24 Oct 2006
Murder Mystery partys have become all the rage ammongst the middle classes and so I felt it my duty to hold one to celebrate my birthday.
And Death By Chocolate is a fabulous night if ever I had one! It is suitable for 6-8 characters and offers a hilarious night in. The characters in this game are brillient to act out and the costumes required for most of them isn't too difficult to get hold of, keeping the cost of the night down.
The game is quite confusing if it is the first murder mystery ever played, so it is advisable that the host of the evening makes sure they fully understand the rules and instructions so as to keep the evening running smoothly.
This murder mystery is fantastic for chocolate lovers and is an excellent fun and adventurous night in!
