This remote control tarantula from Uncle Milton has light-up eyes and a furry texture that makes it frighteningly realistic. Watch it crawl with real spider-like movement by using the unique "spider egg" remote control to send RC Tarantula scurrying across any smooth, flat surface. With independent leg movement you can manoeuvre the spider in almost any direction. Great fun and good for scaring the wits out of unsuspecting friends and family. 6 Years +

Bought this for my 7/8 year old who is mad about space and astronomy, we all think it's absolutely magical. It's very realistic, gives off just the right amount of light and is suitable to play with or just to leave on to go to sleep to. I can think of a few other kids who will be getting these for presents. Just GREAT!
moon in my room, 10 Mar 2008
got this for my 11 year olds bedroom, he loves it, he leave it to come on on its own when it gets dark. It lights his room up alot. great fun as he said.

i havnt seen this in action yet i bought this as a present and it looks good in the box without been turned on but really it is just a glorified nightlite i guess but its the moon! and who doesent like the moon? ide recomend this for parents to buy for there children and for that guy of the sky at night who looks like he hasnt done a days work in his life the tax dodger to buy for patrick moore.
A good night-light masquerading as the moon..., 14 Dec 2007
From an adult perspective this is a nice product. The moon is hemispherical and the size of a small dinner plate. It mounts to a wall using a single screw (not provided) and a keyhole slot on the back. It comes with a remote control that has an on/off switch, a manual moon phase control and an automatic phasing button. The moon will only illuminate in a dark room (light sensor) and can be set to full auto: in which case it'll come on as soon as the room darkens or manual: you control the on/off.
The moon has the ability to illuminate itself to show the phases of the moon (crescent to full). This can be automatic in which case the phase moves every 5 seconds (too fast perhaps) or manual. The manual mode is useful because increasing or decreasing the illumination makes the moon a useful mood-light in a bedroom etc. The illumination turns off after 30 minutes so you'll not fall asleep and drain the batteries. Oh, there's also a CD of moon related information for kids to enjoy.
Children will like this if only for the night light ability and it does look reasonably moon like with the slightly textured surface to simulate craters. I quite like it.

THERE'S ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT, 21 Nov 2006
The Little Touch leappad is a very nice educational toy with many advantages. It can keep a toddler entertained and teach a lot of things, but it can't be used alone; you need to be there and do all the work, the leappad is merely a tool (f.ex. it gives instructions that you have to help the child follow, as in choosing the right colour or the right object or even stand up and dance, no way can a child younger than 2 follow them on his/her own and of course the child needs motivation to do it, no toddler will interact with a piece of flat plastic).
Other than that it's essential that the books are made of some other PLASTIC material as they tear and fold easily and NO, they are not baby friendly as Leapfrog suggests - or waterproof.
Another thing is the sound volume, it needs to go underneath or on the side, because where it'placed it's only a distraction for the young child (buttons are more fun than flat pages).
To sum up, with a few modifications and maybe the addition of leds to keep a younger child entertained needed, for ages 12mts-3years (no way is it for a 6 month baby), I will give it 4 stars.

Product Description
Here at Gadgetshop HQ, we don't intentionally set out to cause you mental fatigue, emotional distress and marital breakdown. It's just that some of our fiendish contraptions are so dashed compulsively addictive that you just can't put them down for fear of getting one step closer to a solution. So it is with the Sudoku 3D Puzzle Cube, a whole world of wonder in a colourful box. Combining all the infuriation of Mr Rubik's famous innovation with the latest global craze Sudoku, it goes several steps further than both ever could on their own. And it will take you into the depths of fascination, and yes, despair. Now it really is quite simple. Just align the six identical sides with the numbers 1 to 9. Each side rotates as the original cube did, interlocking cubelets enabling the user to manipulate the device in the vertical and horizontal axes. Yet, with a crushing inevitability, solving one side will only complicate the solution to the remaining incomplete sides. Does it feel like you've been here before? Yes. Perhaps 25 years ago. Except you had more patience then. And you were probably faster at arithmetic, too. Never has the phrase 'one step forward, two steps back' been more apt. Remember. All you need to do is align the six identical sides with the numbers 1 to 9. Now, that can't possibly be too much to ask... can it?
