Any Peppa Pig fan should add this to their collection. My daughter is such a fan and anything to do with peppa pig is worth buying
Oink Oink, 14 Jan 2008
We got this for my 3 year old daughter for Christmas. She loves it. It is very easy to play with as the whole top comes off. The accessories are good fun too. Much more playability than the push and go car or drive and steer car as the figures come out.
Only slight criticism is that the awning on the camper van keeps getting ripped off, but it is easy to put back in again!
Nice toy but not as good as could have been..., 23 Aug 2007
Just received the toy today for my son. He is 4 and loves peppa pig. They make it extremely difficult to get it out of the box... you will need a screw driver, scissors, and a lot of muscle lol. The caravan top comes off but the doors don't open or anything so it is just like a big plastic box that the top lifts off of. Daddy pig does not stand his body is too heavy for his legs and this frustrates my son a bit. It's a really cute idea and my son loves it and said he is happy about it. But you have to pop the seats out of the caravan to have seats for the picnic table, the shower is just a piece of plastic it does nothing really, the sun shade on top of the caravan rolls out and in which is cool but it gets stuck a lot and you have to re-adjust it. The good thing is all the extras fit into the back of the caravan so you can pack it away easy. The characters don't really sit in the seats very well either. I would like this toy more if it had cost less. I think it is a bit expensive for what it does.

worth the money!, 27 Dec 2007
I've seen so many toys broken before Christmas is even finished, so I wanted to get my grandson something that would last. This toy is superb quality, very strong, brightly coloured and with the addition of some more vehicles, provided two little boys with hours of fun on the first day. I did hesitate before spending so much, but I'm so glad I did now.

Nice cute truck BUT, 14 Aug 2005
The problem of this truck is that the rear panel rapidly (and I mean it: less than a day) doesn't stay vertical, which really annoys my little boy. So I am oblige to stuck it with something (tape, match, etc...), which is neither very secure nor very handy. A pity as you get 3 little vehicles in one box to play with, and the truck looks very cool.

Disappointed, 12 Nov 2008
My 2 year old loves this but gets very frustrated by the engine which isn't powerful enough to get over the bridge, even when not pulling anything. On the level, it strugles to get along with trucks in tow. This is with brand new batteries.

Best little bike to buy, 11 Jan 2004
This cute and colourfull bike was a great hit with my son. Its just the right size for him. Also because most bikes have pedals, and this one does not, he has found it much easier to get around on. It has tought him how to steer the handle bars, unlike any other bike I have bought. I would highly recomend this bike to any one thinking of buying it. Well worth the money.

Disappointed, 15 Nov 2008
My 2 year old grandson loves this but gets very frustrated by the little engine which doesn't have enough power to get itself over the bridge without a push. On the level, it can just about pull the three trucks along, if it has a fresh battery.
It's a pity because I'd like to expand the system but, if the trains can't get round unaided, there's little point.
Great first train set, 10 Mar 2008
Although most Brio is not recommended for children younger than 3 years old, this set is designated as being OK from 18 months old up. We bought it for our son's second birthday, and he absolutely adores it. The pieces all seem very robust, and there is relatively limited scope for him to do much damage with the pieces if he throws a tantrum. For instance the house is made of a soft material. Learning how to run the train on and off the tracks, keep it on the track, run it through the house and use the right magnet on each carriage to connect to the others has proved to be an absorbing exercise in physical and mental dexterity. Apart from the elegant simplicity of the tracks itself, all the pieces are brightly coloured with familiar fruits on the side of the carriages.
Of course, the real beauty of this system is that you can carry on adding track, rolling stock and accessories as the child gets older. Talking of the track, despite it seeming to be a relatively straightforward piece of construction, we have found that other makes of Brio-like track are of noticeably poorer manufacture and in some cases (such as that from Ikea) do not interconnect well. You may well pay more for the Brio brand name, but judging by the quality of this set, it is probably worth the extra.

Does not run for long, 11 Dec 2007
I have had three of these trains. The first time the kids played with it a bit over five months and then it stopped. Replaced all batteries. Took ages to get remember to get another. That died within two weeks - replaced all batteries to no avail (and I know there are two on the front of the train). Was given a replacement from the shop and that has gone in under a week and the kids have played with it twice. This time I'm sending it back to Brio (who are very helpful). A friend has one and that has lasted 6 months on the same batteries. Unlucky? Jinxed? When it works it's great but keep the receipt!
Good, 05 Oct 2007
Got this for my Dad as he wants to be a train driver, cause and effect etc, and first ride he stuffs it through a level crossing when the barriers were down and with cars on the track, then straight through the station decapitating the wooden fat controller. I'm telling Mum and Virgin trains!
Has to be used with the remote, 08 May 2007
Got the toy for my disabled son, as hoping to develop cause and effect, and use of remote (with a view to motorised wheelchair use later on). Very much enjoyed, although it struggled to get up the train set hills / over bridges etc. When batteries ran down, my nephew tried to play with it by pushing it along, which has stripped the gears so will only go in reverse now. Good toy but needs to be used with the remote therefore.

Any Peppa Pig fan should add this to their collection. My daughter is such a fan and anything to do with peppa pig is worth buying Oink Oink, 14 Jan 2008
Exactly what it says on the box, 23 Sep 2007
This is a fantastic addition to anyone's Brio wooden railway set, the free wheeling feature is good for when you don't have a spare battery to hand!
And I could find no fault what so ever with the description contained on this page! It is matches exactly! battery powered thomas, 14 Dec 2006
this item is not properly advertised i bought this item for my neice for christmas thinking it was great getting thomas and track for £[...] infact all i actually recived for my money was the battery powered thomas and one peice of track was not impressed at all. Disappointed, 12 Nov 2008
My 2 year old loves this but gets very frustrated by the engine which isn't powerful enough to get over the bridge, even when not pulling anything. On the level, it strugles to get along with trucks in tow. This is with brand new batteries.
Are all Brio locos this underpowered? Perfect trainset for a perfect little man!, 03 Feb 2006
My son recieved this trainset as a Christmas gift. It is Great! Daddy usually takes over and then he struggles to get a look in! The quality is excellent and will just keep on going. Well worth a purchase.

For adults there is something wonderfully reassuring about well-crafted wooden toys; I guess because they remind us of the toys we played with when we were small. However, I also think that it is good for children to play with toys made from natural materials like wood. This is an extremely good toy - well designed and cleverly constructed to the highest standards (in fact the build quality is amazing - visiting adults often spend a long time marvelling at the quality). It is great fun too, my son has had hours of enjoyment playing with his. Be warned that this is not a cheap toy: there are a number of accessories available including a fire station (which is pictured on the box) which your child will want. My son received this toy for Christmas (just before his third birthday) and once he had seen the picture of the fire station he wanted it. In fact he proposed going back to bed so that Santa could come again and bring it! Highly recommended but be warned it is all too easy to end up buying the entire set

Good if you have shares in Duracell, 03 Nov 2007
The idea of a battery powered train is lovely but the reality of it with two boys who don't yet grasp the concept of turning things off is somewhat different. With new batteries percy is capable of pulling quite a few trucks, that is until he is used on carpet rather than the track. However, batteries don't last long and he spends more time waiting for new batteries than being played with. I would only recommend this train and in fact any battery powered train for older children.
