Tag Reading System, 10 Nov 2008
I bought this for my friends 8 year old daughter, and she tells me that Tallulah really loves her Tag pen and will not put it down. She uses her books to tell the stories to her younger brother, who sits patiently waiting to use the pen himself. Her brother is 4 so is just at the right age to use the Tag reading system properly, so now he wants the Disney Pixar cars and King Fu panda books for christmas. It is one of the most usseful present I have bought a young child, and I am so glad they are getting educational learning as well as lots of enjoyment and fun with Tag
Keeps the kids quiet while they learn!, 05 Sep 2008
This kept my 4 year old quiet for the entire 2 ½ hour journey to my parents last weekend, an absolute feat on it's own. Then you can add to the fact that Tag is teaching her to read too and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Now she's bugging me to buy her more of the books that go with it.

Brilliant, the kids loved it!, 03 Nov 2008
Bought this as a present for my cousin's son's christening back at the beginning of the year. An immediate hit with not only the 1 year old being christened but also with his 3 year old sister and cousin, in fact it was a hit with the adults too!
There haven't been any problems with it, and the legs stayed once you put them on it unlike on some of the others that my friends have for their children. All in all good value with the amount of things for the kids to do and for how long it will appeal to them as well as the sturdyness in comparision to other makes.

My baby daughter received this for her 1st birthday last year and loves playing with it. When it went wrong after several months use we were able to post it (via a FREEPOST address) to Leapfrog who returned it to us serviced and fixed at no extra cost within a week!!!. Callalily(above) should contact Leapfrog direct as they are very helpful and actually know the meaning of customer service. Highly recommended product and company.

If you have a little one and are considering buying this item, don't!
It is very badly made, after only 3 weeks and being played with a handful of times my son's stopped working in english and would only speak french!
Amazon were no help so I asked my husband to look at it as he is qualified in electronics, it turned out that after so little use the switch that changes language was broken and need to be re-soldered.
So to sum up, great educational value but CRAP quality, don't waste your money!
Excellent toy, 15 Apr 2007
We bought this table when our twins were 1 year old. They are now 2 1/2 years old & still have great time using it, singing along the abc song & calling the colours of the piano buttons. I can not recommend this highly enough.
It's a great educational toy & very sturdy too. It has survived every missuse so far & children have learned a great deal out of it- from opposites, up-down, open-closed etc., to learning shapes, triangle, square, etc. & colours, blue, red, yellow, purple.

We have a new leapster 2 for my four year old who is really loving it. But we had only been using it a few hours and when we turned it off for lunch ( 15mins!) the screen was completely unresponsive when we tried to switch it back on just like the reviewer below. I remember reading this review before purchase and got the manual out and recalibrated the screen and it is working for now. Not impressed though. It is not something a child can do and it is a toy that you want them to pick up and be free to use without an adult having to "fix" it every time.
designed for kids who are right handed only, 02 Nov 2008
Bought this for my son who is almost 4 and he loves it and I think it is excellent and educational as well.
However, my son is left handed and found using the pen difficult since it is designed for people who use their right hand, which is a bit of a shame. I think toy makers should make their toys more flexible for people who are both left and right handed.
Good, but has some glitches, 26 Oct 2008
I bought this for my son's 6th birthday. He loves it and it is educational but also so much fun. However, I find that ever other time he turns it on the touch screen stops working, requiring me to recalibrate it. OK, so this only takes a minute, but is frustrating for him and me. More annoyingly, the online connection facility that it boasts does not seem to be working for me. I've followed all Leapfrogs instructions to the letter, but my son's rewards and saved pictures are not appearing on his profile's home page. I am currently in contact with their support team about this, so I'll hopefully get it sorted soon?!
Having said all this, he does love it and would be on it all the time if I didn't stop him!

Good concept, poor execution, 01 Nov 2008
We bought this camera for our son's third birthday and decided to test it before he knew about it and I'm glad we did as we have sent the camera back for a refund.
The camera is physically ideal - big chunky buttons that are easy to press, screw down covers for the batteries so he can't pull it apart and it's generally quite rugged and kid-proof.
The problem is the use of this camera as, well, a camera. It takes shots that are 640x480 and they all come out looking slightly blurred, if indeed they come out at all. It only really works outdoors during the day; try to use it indoors and the viewscreen is so dark you can barely see anything and the flash is pretty much worthless.
It reminds me of the first digital camera I ever bought quite some years ago in the days when digital cameras were in their infancy - expensive and not very effective. In fact it seems to me that Vtech have bought a job lot of these old, nasty cameras and put them in new cases. For the money, you're better off buying a cheap, half decent camera which honestly is a real shame as this is a very good idea in concept.
One final thing - this camera comes with a carry case in the box which is not mentioned in the listing here, so don't make the mistake we did and order a seperate case as you don't need it.

This is a must for all Leapster owners!, 19 Feb 2008
My 5 year old son received this game for Christmas and still thoroughly enjoys playing on it. He doesn't realise that he's "learning"! He particularly enjoys tracing the shapes and then making the lines disappear to see how well he has done. There are easy-hard mazes to follow with the pen and pictures to colour. All in all a really great and educational game for both boys and girls who like to draw, colour or write!
great software, 08 Nov 2005
My 5 year old daughter loves the Draw & Learn software for Leapster, especially the colour-in feature. It is really useful for long car journeys (can be seen in the dark & no lost pencils)! There are various activities that promote pencil control (e.g. a maze game) and letter formation is also covered (good for younger users). Very happy with it!

Product Description
Children and parents will be amazed at what this interactive, talking globe can do. Touch the globe with the NearTouchTM pen and listen to what it tells you. The world's most intelligent talking globe. Learning about geography is magic! Touch the Globe and learn amazing facts. Instant pinpoint global identification of countries, continents, oceans and more! Provides distance and flying times between two points.Accurate information on population, currency, music, time of day and more!Includes challenging learning games that everyone in the family can play.Progressively helpful hints that lead to the correct answer. 8 Years +As learning aids go, they don't get much better than the Explorer Globe from LeapFrog. Touch the globe with the electronic pen included and it will spring to life, naming the country or ocean you've touched and giving you one or more of a number of facts--ocean depth (in feet and metres), country capital, population, land area, continent, even music (a rather eclectic mix!). Touch it again, and you'll get another nugget of information. You can choose which information you want on precisely which area of the globe, from: name, capital, population, area, high point, money, music and continents/countries/states. The globe will also compare one place with another and tell you the distance in miles between them, if you touch two points in succession. But the real potential of the globe lies in its game, "Eureka: a Game of Discovery". Touch the Eureka button, then choose from continents, countries, country capitals, states, state capitals or a free-for-all random round. Set the game going and you must find the points that the globe instructs you to find. You are running against the clock and the instructions and accompanying music become increasingly quicker as you progress. The multi-player option means healthy competition can be introduced and as you progress, you can choose between "tourist", "frequent flyer" and "globetrotter" levels, which become increasingly difficult. The voice recording on the globe has an American accent but diction is clear and precise and in no way does this detract from the final product. This is a fast, furious and fun way to learn geography, (physical, human, political and economic as well as musical!) and though aimed at children, adults may be surprised at how healthy it is to do a little revision now and again. As well as being an effective learning aid, the globe can be a fun, family game. Simply superb and suitable for children aged 7 to 77! --Lucie Naylor

Tag Reading System, 10 Nov 2008
I bought this for my friends 8 year old daughter, and she tells me that Tallulah really loves her Tag pen and will not put it down.
Excellent toy, 26 Feb 2008

This globe certainly is a fantastic idea. My seven year old was desparate for a globe for christmas, and this seemed the ideal choice as we would all be able to play with it together over the holiday. How dissapointing then when he opened it on Christmas morning and discovered that it was convinced that most of the northern hemisphere was the artic ocean! We are sendning it back (to Santa) for one more go.
Better Than School Geography, 23 Oct 2007
My 8 year old daughter knows more about countries and capitals than any 16/17 year old that babysits for us, a fun educational toy, would recommend it to any parent!!
Fantastic toy!, 22 Feb 2007
What a great toy! I bought one of these for my 6 year old son for christmas. He plays with it every single day.
The one we received is a different colour to the one pictured and features an Engish voice. My son really enjoys the quizzes - finding the capitals, oceans, countries etc before the time runs out. There are a few levels - fun for all ages, including adluts! The globe will also tell you facts about each country, and plays a song which is related to each country (not sure if these are accurate, but the kids like them)!
So, all-in-all, a great toy. It is expensive, but my son has literally played with it every single day since Christmas. So well worth the money. We are still on the set of demonstration batteries that came with the globe, so they last a long time, and it seems really well built.
A must have!, 27 Jan 2007
After considering conventional globes I am extremely pleased with The Explorer. There can be no better introduction to Geography for young children. It provides a huge amount of factual information and the inclusion of games in the form of timed tests of your knowledge have provided a lot of fun for both young children and those a little maturer in years (such as myself). The simple concept of the globe speaking provides the key to this excellent product. Children can learn at their own pace and simply hearing the correct pronunciation of some quite tricky words and place names can give the youngsters a head start when they progress onto the subject at school. All in all a great introduction and well worth the money.
Leapfrog Globe is an Excellent Purchase, 23 Jan 2007
Even though it is a little expensive, I feel that this purchase was money well spent. My children aged from 6 to 14 all love this toy and constantly fight over it. My youngest now knows her capital cities and countries better than I do. A brilliant, educational toy.

Disappointing, 11 Nov 2008
This is well-made and looks exactly like Wall-E. Unfortunately, it is disappointing in that (a) it has a female American voice, not Wall-E's voice (b) The number of games within each activity are extremely limited and do not make full use of the range of numbers and letters. For example, the spelling game - where a child is asked to find the first letter of a word - contains only about 7 words, whereas you would expect it to have at least 26. (c) the display is very small, basic and monotone.
(d) One of the activities does not work.
My daughter loves computers and loves the character Wall-E but has not had much fun with this.

Excellent toy, 26 Feb 2008
My baby daughter received this for her 1st birthday last year and loves playing with it. When it went wrong after several months use we were able to post it (via a FREEPOST address) to Leapfrog who returned it to us serviced and fixed at no extra cost within a week!!!. Callalily(above) should contact Leapfrog direct as they are very helpful and actually know the meaning of customer service. Highly recommended product and company.
Breaks very easily after very little use, 20 Jan 2008

So good I had to buy 2, 13 Aug 2008
I originally bought this for one of my twin sons and they fought over it so much that I had to buy another. They both love it and there are no more fights.
Great idea. Shame it was broken!, 28 Dec 2007
(c) the di | | |
